    It's supposed to act as an HID device (keyboard + mouse), then you can route it as "Linux input" device for lirc.

    But... most of the keys don't work (Ubuntu Lucid) I'm still trying to figure out why it's usable in GRUB but not in Linux.

    If you can configure to work properly on Linux, tell us! Thanks (Funny to work in Grub :D)

    I finally made it work!

    This device has a wrong Report Descriptor for the keyboard interface. I wrote a small patch to fix this descriptor as a quirk for the HID subsystem.

    I hope the developers apply this patch for a future "out of the box" experience.

    Bug + patch here : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/607062

    Do you mind to give out a little more details on how to build and apply this patch? It would be a great help!!

    You can follow Martin Pitt's instructions for Ubuntu here : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelCustomBuild

    Another option is to use my built module, but you need the same kernel version that I use in Ubuntu:

    2.6.32-23-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jun 11 07:54:58 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux

    1) Download the module from www.tuxpan.com/fcatrin/files/hid-aureal.ko
    2) Copy hid-aureal.ko to /lib/modules/2.6.32-23-generic/extra
    3) Run depmod -a

    4) Insert the IR dongle and check with dmesg that the patch is applied. You should see something like:

    aureal 0003:0755:2626.0001: fixing Aureal Cy se W-01RN USB_V3.1 report descriptor. Keyboard Logical Maximum = 101

    If you see "generic-usb" instead of aureal, try the following:

    rmmod usbhid
    modprobe hid-aureal
    modprobe usbhid

    You can use it with lirc as a standard Linux Input device

    Or tou can use it with inputlirc, where you can map all the keys sent to lirc clients.

    This is my /etc/default/inputlirc

    # Options to be passed to inputlirc.
    EVENTS="/dev/input/by-id/usb-Cy_se_W-01RN_USB_V3.1-event*"
    OPTIONS="-c -g -m 0"

    Of course you need my patch if you want keyboard keys to work.

    With this patch are you able to use the power button on the remote to wake it up from S3 (Supend-to-ram) as you can wake it up with a normal keyboard?

    I don't think so

    The usb bus and devices are shut down on suspend.

    Anyway I haven't tried.
