Review: measured capacity and energy

  • DrJones Sunday, November 21, 2010 3:29 PM Reply
I recently got these and measured their capacity and energy as
    1890mAh/6280mWh and
    1850mAh/6170mWh respectively.
These values were measured with 2.00A constant discharge current down to 2.8V shutdown voltage.
Other posts indicate a capacity of 2100mAh under low current conditions.

I have gathered some more measurement results here: http://lux.yi.org/batt/

Hope you don't mind me tagging on more data to your post.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
The following is a capacity measurement for these cells.

All cells charged (~1A) individually and then discharged (1A) individually with the imax b6 charger. Discharge cutoff at 3V.

1764mAh (Originally measured as 1138. 1764 is after 1 recharging cycle then trying again. Maybe I shorted it accidentally without knowing.)
    1733mAh
    1698mAh
    1661mAh
    1576mAh
    1513mAh

As you can see, there's a huge difference in capacities. But if you take them in pairs, you'll notice that the grouping becomes tight (as is the case with the OP's measurements).

There could be two things happening. These guys are "QCing" their products and making sure customers get matched pairs, or.... What is more likely, is that the capacities vary widely between batches, and I've just been unlucky to get multiple batches.
