Longest Throw for lamping with a rifle

    :) :)

Yes am aware of derringers and they are certainly cute. .22 or .25 caliber?

The distances and terrain in which you shoot make a very big difference in terms of light choice.

For off-the-truck shooting we use handheld HID spotlights and some good halogen lights. The HID especially will light up paddocks and pick up small game animals out to 250 meters or so.

For walking large field areas which are often quite hilly we use the much smaller and lighter rifle mounted lights. You don't want heavy equipment on your rifle for this shooting. The WF800 will pick up bunnies out past 125 meters and has a pencil beam. The X2000 will pick them out up to 100m - actually makes eyes shine blue in the dark, but is also good for close in scrub and bush shooting as you widen the lens with its zoom lens. The 18650 battery headlamp we use for scanning fields with just head movement - range 80+ meters.

The 502s are also good with smooth reflector, reaching out to about 75m with their broader beam - as does the P7. The 502s with the added aspheric lens will reach out past 100m.

If you are shooting at very close range then I'm sure the smaller AA lights will do the job.

most of my targets are within' 200 feet.... usualy closer than that.

i've seen derringers chambered for .45 long colt. that's a lot of bang for a small gun, but that's totaly the point!
    Howdy from Ohio!

.45 is a helluva lot of bang in a tiny hand pistol !!!

Good to give to someone else to fire first....
