Measured capacity, very bad performance

  • eatatjoes10 Tuesday, August 23, 2011 4:38 PM Reply
    I measured the capacity.
Discharged two batteries with a high power resistor, from full charge to 3,0V:

    Battery..Resistor...Current..Capacity
    ....1.......4,8 ohm..758 mA..1581 mAh
    ....1.....12,2 ohm..302 mA..1592 mAh
    ....2.......4,8 ohm..724 mA..1630 mAh
    ....2.....12,2 ohm..296 mA..1989 mAh

I don't have a device for measuring the capacity, I do it by taking a chart of the flowing current every 5 minutes. From that chart the capacity is calculated. The error should be less than 1%.
As the discharging was done with a constant resistor, the discharge current depends on the voltage and was not constant. The value in the table is only the average of all measured values, not usable as a reference!

    Thanks for testing these, eatatjoes10!

That's about what I was expecting. I figured these were actually closer to 2000 to 2200mAh, using the standard IEC method of C/10 rate (so that would be 200 to 220 mAh). You'll probably get another 10 to 15% if you let it go down from 3.0 to 2.7 or 2.5V.

Now if only DX will sell more cells with tabs... like the 2400mAh flame trustfires or the 2800mAh soshines. These cells should hold up their capacity better at high discharge rates.

What's up with the scrubbed LED driver IC markings?
What are they trying to hide?

(so that would be 200 to 220 mAh)

    mA.

I have experience with exactly similar (without terminals) Li-Ion from ebay. It has at least 2 times overrated capacity. My Turnigy charger reports the capacity below 1800mAh (1A discharge rate). I do not recommend this batteries.
    I may recommend SKU 20392 - quite honest 2400mAh.

When was the last time you got sku.20392 Alex? Have you read the recent threads about them?

Oooohhh... I'm disappointed by your news, sheepish. Thanks for heads-up! Sorry for my incorrect advertisment. Last time I received my 2 pairs 20392 almost year ago (2011 march). And it was quite worthy for me. I really didn't read thread cos my batch was ok...
