Is it a USBISP programmer?

  • indoo Tuesday, May 15, 2012 3:17 PM Reply
Is it a USBISP programmer with JTAG cable for debugging AVR board?
6 pin cable is suggesting it is an ISP programmer. In that case, it may be used to upload bootloader and other sketches.
10 pin cables are normally used for JTAG - debugging. But arduinos don't have any JTAG debugging facilities but sanguino have one. And it could be used for other AVR boards.

Kindly let me know whether my presumptions are correct or not?

No, 6-pin and 10-pin are common for normal ISP. I doubt this has JTAG.

Thanks, DrJones, kindly clarify whether it follows stk500 protocol or not? Also is the atmega chip on green board is doing the function of FTD232 (usb to serial) chip?

It's based on the Ladyada USBtinyISP design, simple and cheap.
