Best (real) Lumens for a buck? - Cave exploring

  • gasbag11 Top 10 Forum Poster Wednesday, November 21, 2012 3:44 PM Reply
sku.120679 was sold out for about 3 weeks but came back a few days ago. I ordered one this morning.
Now comes the agonizing part, waiting for delivery. :)

Good luck which ever you choose.
NO! I don't know why DX screwed up the site so badly.
    Ask them.

Since you asked for a hint, order the one that you think you'll like the least.
Than you have a good reason to order the other one. :D

The compact size of sku.120679 could be quite good for a cave. The long size of sku.112817 (edit: 2750lm?) would be good if you were exploring a "movie" cave where you're going to inevitably end up fending off cave demons or have to film a slow motion shot of it spiralling down a bottomless pit.

And sku 145557 would be good for still being able to see it (and everything else, assuming you aren't blinded) even after it falls into the pit.

What about the deep soft mud (or in a movie, water) inevitably at the bottom?

150W LED? you'd still be able to see it. Heck, it'd even help with cooling it.

    Water maybe, not mud.

I've dropped a 3W led light in mud, and it did light up a tiny bit. 50 times that would have been intense.
