  • DealExtremePR @DX Staff Monday, October 15, 2012 11:46 PM Reply
After exhaustive preparation, DX has finally launched its new AU Direct; which is a completely new shopping paradise exclusively for Aussies.
The powerful TOLL Global Express is our solid choice for order delivery. A steady and prompt product supply chain is another one of our strengths.

Hardly anyone important lives in NT and WA anyhow, but the Kiwis will be disappointed lol

(Fortunately the ACT is not included either or the politicians would be wasting all our money.)

    DX stealing?

We all have wings, but some of us don't know why...

Fantastic to see some good items in the store.
I did see a German powerboard, which was amusing. I don't have any German powerpoints in my Australian house. Maybe I'm unique?!

I'd love to see some of the cheaper items in the store. I wouldn't even mind if there was a minimum purchase amount to get the free shipping ($20 - $30), and you've got a tonne of torches and no batteries or chargers ! Well not that I was able to find.

Keep up the good work, and lets hope the new Aussie store expands out to a lot more items.

    Dear customer,
Thanks for your attention to AU Direct! :)
Please leave us a message in the products feedback box at left corner and we will try to put it online if it is possible.

Good idea, that maybe if we can put a minimum charge that we can put more products into AU Direct. Thanks for your understanding to us. But we do want to provide the same customer experience to u too, let me try to report this to our team and see whether we can find a good solution.

Btw, you are unique and I am unique too. We are unique to everyone :D

    Best regards,

@AuSlade, they have killed off your signature link.
Is the closest I can find now. Note the wiki link on that page (in the menu on the left side) does not work either.

I agree with the suggestion of a minimum order size to receive free shipping. Sounds like a good idea if it is possible. Doubly so if it also enables cheaper items to be added.

I'm hoping that printer inks such as sku 26134 might be able to be stocked in the Australian warehouse. DX can not ship liquids greater than 10ml at the moment for some reason (presumably airline security issues), but Michelle is looking into the possibility of having them sent to the Australian warehouse via ship.

    DX stealing?

OK, Im impressed. I was expecting maybe 50~100 sku's but there are 2,149! Seem to be quite an assortment too and not just less popular items. There are some I would question their thinking with though. Out of about 36 GPS units, only 2 models I have found feature Australian maps, the majority Euro, USA, Brazil. The one featured on page 1 even has a digital TV built in. ISDB-T is not much use on this side of the Pacific though!

It's good timing though, There is still a chance of doing some Christmas shopping from here, whereas there's little hope of anything from HongKong with the China Post/Customs fiasco likely to cause repercussions through to 2013.

Thanks for the new link. Updated.

As I've stated, I'd be happy with a minimum $20 - $30 order. I realise that costs are higher here and DX needs to make it profitable to keep the AU store open.

I have noted some items I'd like to see in the store, they're all in the lower price bracket though, which seems unlikely that they'll get picked up at the moment. I'll be the first to admit I tend to buy the cheaper items on DX, unfortunately the quality on dearer items can be a bit hit'n'miss, so I'd rather not take the chance.

It's the cheaper items that DX are likely to sell more of. I'd like to see the AU store succeed and expand, but big ticket items aren't my thing.

Yeh, some of the items are bizarre choices, like the Scart DVB-T digital tuner. I haven't seen a TV with Scart in a long time. It's not a widely accepted input/output format in Australia, compared to say the UK.

There are a number of Laser units on the site, which I found quite amusing. None of the handheld ones, they're not legal, but I wouldn't have thought any of the larger units would be any more legal given the high output of some of them. Heck, I'm half tempted to purchase one, just to get a 100Mw green laser :)

I do like the Space Rail, there's no way my wife (The Minister for Fun & Finance) would allow it. The larger unit would be better though.

And pointing out the obvious, most items have either a European or US plug, but you can't pickup the adapters in the AU store, because they're in the $2 price range. So buying some items means shopping around locally for an adapter. This might put some newer buyers off. Just a thought.

Now to go spam the suggestions box with sku's !

Yes, I would have expected SKU.68135 to be the first item on page 1 also. A better idea is to just throw one in with any AC 240V item sold… some other shops do that as a matter of course, just add a buck to the price.

Your suggestion for a minimum order value for free shipping sounds good to me too. I can’t imagine too many complaining. $20~$30 sounds about fair.

    See... No Sig!
