Suggest the charger please

  • starush Tuesday, April 30, 2013 2:13 PM Reply
I bought this battery pack to power SKU: 199471. The connection is not too tight but contact is still stable without any interruptions.

To charge this battery pack, I also bought SKU: 132155, but it's inner cylindrical contact is too loose for that battery. I used the aluminium foil to fill the gap, but this is just temporary workaround. Would someone be so kind to suggest me right charger?

Will SKU: 154609 work well with this battery pack?

By the sound of things, the female jack on the battery pack is 5.5x2.1mm and the DC plug on your charger (SKU: 132155) is 5.5x2.5mm. If that is the case, there is no need to buy a whole new charger, you just need the proper adapter.

SKU: 194869 should be perfect. You only need one but $1.90 is still cheaper than a new charger. ;)

sku.154609 would do the job but you'd still have the same problem. The only difference between it and the one you have, is that it has a Euro wall plug instead of th two flat pin American plug. The male DC plug is still 5.5x2.5mm, so it would also require the adapter.

    Good call ozOzo.

I still have my doubts about your "lack of interest" in flashlights, judging by your reply in the "best bang for a buck 18650" thread. And buying that Ultrafire zoom light for a "friend."

I have a membership form for E.O. of E.F.N. ready when you decide to "come out." :D

PS. Does your "friend" like that light? :)

Mate, you post a picture of your grand kids in "Off Topic" and I'll open the Antipodean Chapter of the Ancient Mystic Order of Enlightened Whateverthehecks… but I still don’t need another torch! ;)

My mate loves his btw. It replaced a similar one that packed it in and he couldn’t be bothered fixing it. The emitter on the new one must be a newer generation or something, because the brightness apparently took him by surprise.

Having never heard of Antipodean before, I googled it. What a strange yet interesting word. = Pertaining to Australia.

So I looked up podean.= Hostility to Australians.

So I guess antipodean means "against anti-Australians, or anti anti-Australians. Do I have it right? I'm starting to get a headache trying to figure it out. :o

By the look of it the battery has a male connector and the charger has a female connector. I prefer to just use "socket" and "plug" respectively to avoid gender confusion.

I agree, these DC connectors can be confusing as each piece has both male and female characteristics, either (a) an outer aperture with an inner pin or (b) an outer pin with an inner aperture. You seem to have the opposite interpretation to mine.

Before we start that debate (which now we must!), so that starush can get on and place his order, would you not agree that the solution I have offered will most likely solve his problem?

I am not altogether convinced that the terms "socket" and "plug" identify the fittings any more positively than “male” and “female” because again, each has a socket and a plug. I call (a) [above] female, socket or jack because, as with phone jacks, TRS jacks or AC power points, the conductors are concealed within the fitting and they form the outermost part of the connection. I identify that as the fitting clearly seen at the end of the cable in the second photo of power pack SKU: 197994. I call (b) [above], male, pin or plug because its conductors are exposed as with other plugs and the outermost conductor fits within the insulated sleeve of the female. I identify it as the pin with the blue tip on sku.194869.

“A rose by any other name…” but that seems the most logical to me, yet you call the line fitting on the power pack cable the plug?

    [edit] Changed yellow to blue.
