Here is a custom recovery for this phone

  • andym24 Tuesday, July 02, 2013 7:33 PM Reply
Thanks to some great tools available on the XDA-developers forum I've managed two create two flavours of custom recovery specifically for this phone.

    TWRP: http://d-h.st/JLc

    CWMR: http://d-h.st/nMe

Easy way to install: install MobileUncle from Google Play, use the 'flash recovery' function to install whichever recovery you have downloaded. If you don't know which recovery to use I suggest TWRP as it has a nice touchscreen interface.

Thanks to Allison's great bit of research you can boot into recovery by: WHILE OFF AND CHARGING (on screen with battery filling up and juice %) Hold Vol.Down+Power and voila! Instead of testing mode the phone will boot into recovery!

    Use at your own risk!

I currently also have a ported version of cyanogen working 99% nicely on this phone - its a much smoother and faster interface than the stock version, as soon as I've finished ironing out a few bugs I'll post that up too if anyone is interested.

    Hey Andym24,

Could you upload the custom recovery images again? The links you have posted in July are not working anymore...

    Thanks!

    Sure,

here is TWRP (my favourite): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B174TdbtYdqzR2Q1dnhScXBaaUU/edit?usp=sharing

    And this is CWM: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B174TdbtYdqzNE0tVWJXMUF0OE0/edit?usp=sharing

I also have a stable custom ROM I've been developing over the past few months based on the LEWA roms. I can repost that too if anyone wants it.

It doesn't sound like you're starting the phone in recovery mode.

To check, I suggest you start the phone as normal, install ROM Toolbox (free version) and use that to 'Boot into Recovery' (in the ROM Management menu). If that works then reread the instructions on booting directly into recovery and try that again.

If that still gets you to a blank screen I suggest reflashing the recovery, again, using ROM Toolbox (next to the Reboot Recovery button).

Failing that you did do a full backup, right? You can always restore you're recovery partition and try again.
