this is not alkaline

  • wdcdx Wednesday, January 1, 2014 4:31 AM Reply
the text in the battery says "do not mix with alkaline batteries", therefore this is not an alkaline battery.

I found the same battery being offered at several competing Chinese webshops, but none of them mention alkaline, so it's DX themselves(or their direct supplier)n that gives the wrong information.

I'm not knowledgeable about batteries but the other sites called this battery unanimously 'heavy duty', which would indicate(just googling these things, so can't verify) that these are Zinc-Chloride batteries.
    Can anyone confirm?

    EDIT
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinc%E2%80%93carbon_battery#The_zinc_chloride_cell
The zinc chloride cell is an improvement on the original zinc–carbon cell, using purer chemicals and giving a longer life and steadier voltage output as it is used. These cells are often marketed as heavy-duty cells, to differentiate them from general-purpose zinc–carbon cells. This has been a source of consumer confusion after the introduction of alkaline cells, which last longer than the zinc-chloride heavy-duty cell.

Ah, DX advertising a product with actually inferior specifications(Alkaline is better than this one.)

Agreed, it's most likely zinc-chloride, not alkaline. Use the "report error" link next to the Add to Cart button to notify DX that the description is wrong.
What's up with the scrubbed LED driver IC markings?
What are they trying to hide?

Care to re-confirm this being Alkaline batteries seeing as all indications lead to this being Zinc-Chloride Cells, not Alkaline.
It's bullshi_t to say "the supplier said it is so" because we all know that the suppliers know nothing.
Janmee, don't let us down on this one and stop letting the suppliers spread their lies.

every alkaline cell in the world carries the "alkaline" word printed on it, this does not, ergo it can't be alkaline.

*sigh* why do suppliers insist on lying?

It is Zinc–carbon, because it is 6F22.

    @Janmee
Zinc Carbon you say, like we said it was? The opposite what was told us thrice? (once in the description, once more by the supplier's claim and once again with Lynn ignoring our claims and insisting that the supplier is right?)
And you're sure it's Zinc-Carbon and not Zinc-Chloride? Sure sure?

Please give your team instructions to follow 'our' instructions(the forum top10 people) and double…tripple...quadrupplecheck things told by suppliers(because you have to admit they tell lies, or are simply too dumb to know what they're selling) when we're saying the exact opposite.
You know darn well that our general knowledge far exceeds the average staffmember in certain levels, and we're mostly surpassing most of them on an English-level, which is quite important when running an English based website, so I expect you to pass on the message to your team.

Thank you, epecially if you're able to quadrupplecheck the Carbon/Chloride claim.
