Most standard 18650 batteries are 3.7V, but when they are freshly charged they will have about 4.2V.

Panasonic, Sanyo, and Samsung make good batteries. The higher the mAh # is, the longer they will last before needing a recharge. I would suggest avoiding Ultrafire batteries, especially the ones with the stripes.

Any 18650 batteries that are listed at more than 3400 mAh are B.S.

These TrustFire batteries keep up well. I have tried other types, also other TrustFire, from DX, but all of them have been really bad, not giving more than 100 mAh or thereabouts.  http://www.dx.com/p/trustfire-protected-18650-3-7v-true-2400mah-rechargeable-lithium-batteries-2-pack-20392#.WfNTjZS7VhE

I've had good luck with those and also with sku.120476, used mostly for flashlights.

Some of mine are well over 4 years old and still work well, but admittedly they don't see heavy use.

I use the Sanyos or Panasonics for my lights that draw more current.
