Eliminating Next Mode Memory in flashlights.

Well, I thought I'd try something a bit more original than "Subscribed." Also, I haven't taken a pencil to any of my drivers (yet?), so you have more experience with this technique than I do. I prefer drivers that start in the same low mode each time and ramp up from there.

If/when you get around to experimenting sheepish, I’d like to know if the pencil trick could be used to change the sequence on a common five mode torch… totally eliminate the flash and SOS modes, always switch on to low then medium - high - low. Feasible?

Sorry, no. (I can answer this one.) To get rid of the SOS and flashing modes you either have to eliminate the modes altogether or reprogram the mode controller.

Hehe, I guess “draw your own circuit” pencils are a little way off yet then. But hey, they’ve already come up with a four dimension printer, so who knows? ;)

There was a bluetooth programmable flashlight on that other site. It was a modified Small Sun light with the name Asgard. (Asgarde?) Its been sold out for quite a while now. :(

No typo, there actually is such a thing. I only heard of it yesterday on a radio program. One of our Uni’s is getting one (I think Canberra).

The fourth dimension is time and it’s to do with 3D printed objects, using special materials to change shape when placed in a particular environment.

I did find a link that explains the concept, with a video of how it works here:

    Interesting.

Two of the problems with 3-D printing are the small bed size available in most printers ...

That's actually a problem with the printer, not with 3D printing itself, and thus could also apply to "4D" printing. To print the cube net required a larger bed size than printing the finished cube.

That’s so but from what I gathered from that radio talk (and 4 minutes intensive research on the net) they are not just experimenting with flat objects but, for instance, a cylinder shape that will transform into a pre-programmed shape. I suppose height would then be a restraining factor as well as the bed area.

… and there GB was concerned about his thread getting off topic. As if…

Interesting. I found out that the "pencil mod" won't work with lights that you have to click through all the modes to turn off. Someone on another forum tried it, and still has to go through all 5 modes to turn it off, but now all 5 modes are high mode. lol
