Need advice for the best flashlight. Please help!

  • UCTERRA Sunday, January 25, 2015 7:21 AM Reply
    I bought a flashlight which I thought was perfect for me. I thought that I could find a remote pressure switch for it, but I think that I got things wrong and now I cannot find it. So, I'm thinking on buying a new one.

    Things I'd like it to have:
    Very powerful. I'm thinking about white Cree XM-L T6 (or above if there exists) LED with 800+ lumens;
    Runtime:: 3~5 hours
    1x18650 rechargeable battery;
    Zooming flashlight;
    At least 2 modes (high and low);
    Possibility to buy a remote pressure switch for it, if it doesn't come in the package;
    Glass lens, but this is not mandatory and resin would be okay.

    So, what would the forum experts recommend me to buy?

    Thank you in advance for taking your time to answer my message.

    Do you really need a zoom?
    Having a zoom will not give you a huge amount of light compared to a basic reflector. If you need throw, you could get a light with a deep reflector.

    Also, you will not get that runtime out of 1 battery, for those lumens, you're usually looking at around 1hr per battery on high.

    What is the light for?

    cyclist, thank you for the prompt response.

    I need variable throw because the flashlight will be used for hunting and there will be situations where I'll need the light to go straight to the point and there will be other ones where I'll need to see the "big picture".

    As the flashlight will have more than one mode, I think that batteries could last more than 1 hour, don't you think? On high mode, I know that it will consume a lot of energy. I have an UltraFire T55 Cree XM-L T6 800lm and I can surely get more than 2 hours with this flashlight on high.

    Any ideas of a good flashlight for me with, let's say, most of the above features?

    Oh, by the way, the possibility of having a remote pressure switch in the package or even buying one with the flashlight is important for me.
