Must desolder something ?

  • mrmuzzio Friday, September 18, 2015 9:42 AM Reply
I believe you must desolder the center resistor (labeled "000") for the voltage regulator to work. Otherwise the ESP is feeded with the voltage at VCC that is 5.0v posible frying it.

This is missing from the assembly instructions supplied with the product.

    Could anybody confirm this?

    Thanks a lot !!!

You appear to be correct. The zero ohm resistor is effectively bypassing the regulator, for those cases where the main board is already suppling 3.3V to the VCC pin.
What's up with the scrubbed LED driver IC markings?
What are they trying to hide?

Hmm... Considering the thread title and the respondent, there must be a witticism in there somewhere, but I can't think of one at the moment. lol

It's not a joke about your English, which is actually very good. Sorry if you thought it was.

It's just a rather odd coincedence that you have the word "desolder" in the title, and "desolder" replied.

Thank you, gasbag11. It's a coincidence then or the user is making a joke and somehow managed to change his name...
    It's still funny anyway.

No, that's his real user name and he knows a lot about electronics. You can click on "Posts" in one of his replies and check his previous posts if you want to, but any forum regular or mod will say he's an expert when it comes to electronics and flashlights and various mechanical things too. He's helped me and many others many times. :)
