pay Import Tax & VAT Insurance after order

  • costy1500 Wednesday, October 14, 2015 3:13 PM Reply
When I made my order, I forgot to pay for the VAT insurance. Can I pay it now? I want to make sure that I won't pay taxes here.

    MY order number: 150930135098999755

Nope, your order has already shipped.
Depending on the taxes, you might want to refuse the package and get refunded, but DX will deduct the postage cost.

Yes, I will refuse the package if they want me to pay taxes. But I will ask for a refund from paypal and I want all my money back because I was mislead when I placed my first order. When I saw EU direct and shipping using post NL from Holland, I assumed that you are sending items from EU. Very misleading.

Don't forget to tell paypal that you forgot to pay for the VAT insurance, so it's your own fault that you have to pay that fee.

And don't forget to tell paypal that the FAQs clearly explain that there is no EU warehouse and everything is shipped from Chna, but you didn't bother to read the FAQs.

ALWAYS ask questions about a specific item on its

When I started this thread I was in a hurry, so I wanted to write fast so I can get an answer. So when I asked about the vat insurance, I wrote in the simplest form. That's why I said that I "forgot". For me it didn't matter if I said I forgot or not, I wanted to know if it was still possible to pay for the insurance.
Hence I didn't forgot about the insurance, I thought that I don't need it since I thought the item was sent from Holland using Post NL. I wrote first about it here: http://club.dx.com/forums/forums.dx/threadid.1437152?page=1

I'm a new user here so my perception is different from yours. For me the EU direct and the Post NL were contributing factors that made me buy from here because I thought that I would avoid customs and taxes, and the prices were good. But when I add the taxes, the price doesn't look so good anymore.

But what about the vat "insurance"? It's funny that you call it insurance. You know, when I send a local packet, I don't pay for the insurance, because in 99% of the cases all is well with the delivery. So in most cases, insurance is used for the most unlikely events. Is that the case with your insurance too? :)
I ordered an 137 euro smartphone. If I pay the taxes, only the VAT would be 24% = 32,88 euro So if I paid 1 euro "insurance", I wouldn't had to pay 38 euro(with customs)? Wow. How do you do it if you are sending from China and all EU countries have import taxes when buying from China? The question is, how do you do it without breaking the EU law? It seems magical :)

And in the end, what about shipping with Post NL? It's funny that it's a local company from Holland. Let's say you were using DHL. Well, that's an international company. And you can use DHL even for local deliveries in most countries. But what about Post NL? Why don't you guys send local/international packages in/from China using Post NL? Because it doesn't operate in China! You have to be in Holland so that you can send items using Post NL's services. So it would make sense to believe that you are actually sending from Holland. Why didn't you mentioned the initial shipping company from China? It seems that the package magically appears in Holland.

Well, I'll take my chances with paypal. I think I have good arguments.

You really should read the FAQ on any site you buy from, and I see you still haven't read DX's!
If you did, then you would know the insurance you buy from DX is for if your package IS stopped by customs and charged, you then pay the taxes and then show DX the receipt, then DX refunds you up to a certain amount, its ALL in the FAQ.

But what about Post NL? Why don't you guys send local/international packages in/from China using Post NL? Because it doesn't operate in China! You have to be in Holland so that you can send items using Post NL's services.

As for using NL Post (you really should try and do a little research before saying anything!), over the years DX has used dozens of different postal carriers, NL Post is just one of them (they used them for years and before EU Direct), and is it really that hard to believe that they don't only work in the one country?

You probably wont read them, but here are the FAQ from the Dutch Post site ~ http://www.postnlparcels.cn/en/Faq

    About EU Direct

Q: What’s the difference between EU DIRECT and DX.COM?

A: EU Direct is a customized site which made for DX EU customers and we aimed to offering better service as below:

Ø Efficient follow up with upstream suppliers: EU Direct ensures that all the products can be supplied in 2-4 business day.

Ø Free Expedited Delivery by Post NL: Delivery Time: usually 5 - 11 business days

Ø Free On Time Tracking from China to EU (27 countries)

Ø Exclusive SCM team in china for EU Direct

Ø Exclusive Customer Service team for EU Direct

Ø Exclusive Product Management for EU Direct

Ø Multi channels to collect EU customer's service requirements and products request

Ø Exclusive after-sale service ensures you have a great shopping experience: EU Direct customer service personnel will follow up on all EU Direct orders. We will respond to customer inquiries within 24 hours (usually much faster).

Q: Do you have warehouse in EU?

A: There is no EU Warehouse, we send EU Direct goods from world factory to EU (27 countries), and have cooperation with Post NL to make faster delivery.

All orders are shipped from China, not Europe.

Q: Do we need to pay extra VAT or duty for EU direct parcels ?
A: We will separate your parcels and arrange the delivery. In normal you will not be afraid to bear the European import duty. If you are worried, we suggest you pay Import Tax & VAT Insurance when you do the checkout. Then we will pay the duty when the parcel is held by local customs.

If you have bought the Import Tax & VAT Insurance, and in the event that you are charged any tax & VAT when the package is delivered, please sign for the package and pay the taxes. Then please submit a ticket and provide us the the tax document, invoice or receipt.

Please note that the tax insurance service is only for the orders from European countries. The tax reimbursement claim must be made within 60 days from the date of shipment. The max compensation amount is up to $40 for per order.

Look what it says in your FAQ: "We will separate your parcels and arrange the delivery. In normal you will not be afraid to bear the European import duty. If you are worried, we suggest you pay Import Tax & VAT Insurance when you do the checkout. Then we will pay the duty when the parcel is held by local customs."

Yeah, your FAQ is very useful. In the normal cases I shouldn't be afraid of import duty. What are the normal cases? Most of the cases should be normal. But if I'm worried, I should pay the vat insurance. When should I be worried? Based on my feelings? Aren't any specific parameters that you would suggest to consider?

And yes, I know that dx pays only if the package goes through customs and charged. But in the FAQ dx says that in the normal way people don't pay import duties. How come? Packages are sent from China to Europe, most of them should be stopped and charged. But dx tries to say that somehow taxes don't matter much. "In normal you will not be afraid to bear the European import duty." Great help!

I did lookup post NL and looked at their english site and I didn't saw any connection with China there and I stopped looking. You are right here.

Still, in the big picture, I find your information misleading. It's like when I'm on ebay.co.uk I'm going there because I expect to find products that are mostly from UK. Same with different amazon versions. But when I'm on the EU version of DX, guess what, they are sending them also from China.

I also looked at your forums, what a "surprise" to find out that I'm not the only one who is annoyed by this.

I ordered the item with the price of 36.02 USD and paid the item with 36.02 EUR on EU direct. I picked EU direct because it was clear to me from my user point of view (name "EU direct") that the higher price covers the VAT and customs...(which fits the 21% which is difference between USD to EUR)... I didin't understand that the higher price was for faster deliver (!). That was on October 5th 2015. Today was the 22nd day and I received from customs to deliver the original receipt (which now 36$ or 36 EUR ?) . On a sent package was from EU direct was price 1.28 US, which was incorrect and now I am accused of cheating?? (I never talked with peopl,e sending me the packet). I sent to the cutoms both prices... the claimed 30.2 USD and acctually paid 30.2 EUR ...and now have to pay 8 EUR for VAT, 3 EUR for customs and 18 EUR (all cuted by decimal numbers) for Customs Post office manipulation, that is almost same additional sum as it was original price with USD price. Then I need to wait additional 5-6 days to the customs procedure. I refused that as the misleading the customer and now I am claiming the refund of the paid 36.02 EUR at Pay Pal with the described situation: 1. much longer delivery as claimed (over 10 days passed) 2. price difference 32 USD vs 32 EUR (not justifying the delivery time) and 3. the incorrect way to deliver (customs, tax, wrong price on the packed...) . As I needed goods as a sample I ordered very similar product as a backup for a price of 39.8 EUR at IDEALO and had received it within 3 days - that is Thursday October 8th 2015. I need a lot to be explained now. Please don't play mice and cat with misleading the costumers.

@LanderSLO I also started the procedure on paypal to get a full refund. I think both of us will get our money back.

My reasons are: 1. Eu Direct is misleading. I thought that they were sending from EU.
    2. Long shipping time. I got it a few days later than they said.
    3. In their FAQ they lie when they say that they'll deliver the packages at the door. The truth is that I need to go to the postal office that has customs, wait in line for an hour and then pay my taxes.

It would be nice if dx would cooperate and reply to my paypal dispute. Well, if you don't write back, that means that you are not interested in fixing the problem. If that is the case I will upgrade the dispute to an paypal claim. I think I am right in this situation and paypal will realise this and help me to get the full refund.
