Shipping to Netherlands no longer to your door!

  • JeroenWalter Wednesday, October 21, 2015 12:48 AM Reply
    Beware !
Since 1 october 2015 PostNL no longer ships items from DX to your door. Instead, it ships it to the nearest collection point "afhaalpunt".
The EU Direct DX shop only offers PostNL as shipping option.

    http://www.webwinkelweblog.nl/postnl-stuurt-pakketjes-uit-china-standaard-naar-afhaalpunt/

According to PostNL this is per request of chinese webshops and the webshops should specify how a parcel should be delivered. I don't know if this is true or if this is just a way of cutting costs, but this is not an improvement for the customer.

We as a customer do not get a choice. DX does not offer a way for us to specify whether we want to have items delivered to our supplied delivery address or not.

This is bad, it means a serious decline in service from DX and PostNL.

I don't know if DX is aware of this situation, but I hope DX can quickly do something about this.

    I call bollocks!
NL Post are just a carrier, when the package reaches your country, it is then handed over to your local postal service for them to deliver.
It might be different for some countries, but I doubt they'll just leave packages at a pick up point somewhere.

As per norm, don't believe everything you read on the web.

    Thanks.

I've translated an official statement from PostNL for you from this site http://www.klachtenkompas.nl/postnl/pakketten-uit-china-worden-niet-meer-bezorgd-zonder-enige-melding

"From October 1 registered parcels from China, sent by webshops, no longer will be delivered at the door. These packets are derived from Chinese web shops.

The sending client chooses to offer this service, and we carry out this order. The first country where this is possible, is China.

These Chinese webshops have chosen this basic service. This means that the package is not delivered by mail. PostNL then sends the packet directly to a PostNL pickup location to reach out to the customer. Any clearance costs are listed on the collection notice and settled on the pickup location

The pickup message will be sent the next day by mail to the customers concerned.
    This applies to registered mail.

I hope you have been informed sufficiently.

    With kind regards,

    Femke
    PostNL CustomerService"

I don't know much about PostNL and who they'll deliver to, but there seems to be changes in some countries postal system's tracking.

I got this > USPS Tracking™ is unavailable for this product for CHINA. 2 days ago for a pkg that arrived yesterday, even though I had signed up for email updates over a week ago for that pkg. Apparently USPS has suddenly stopped tracking pkgs from China.

I saw the same thing (mentioned on another forum) for Canada's postal system.
NO! I don't know why DX screwed up the site so badly.
    Ask them.

I'll find out if there is any difference for me (UK) as I have a package coming with NL Post finally, after being returned as USUAL by China Post.
I should get it within the next week or two.

I am not so clear about this.I just confirmed with our Shipping Department and they haven't received this notification from NL POST yet.
    JeroenWalter is from Netherlands.
Is there anybody in other countries meeting the same problem?
I'll have my maternity leave from next week(my baby will be born in a mo
nth), and I may be back to office a
    round mid-December.
If you have anything to query, please contact Maye_Tao.
    Thank you. :)

PostNL apparently made this deal with China Post, so all registered packages sent by China Post are handled by PostNL in the Netherlands and they will have this issue.
Not only DX has this problem now, other webshops as well, like AliExpress.

Some dutch customers have contacted their chinese vendor in order to ask if PostNL or China Post had notified them of this change in policy. These vendor hadn't heard anything and just assumed that the packages were delivered to the customer's houses as always.
PostNL lays the blame at these vendors, stating that the vendor should specify whether a package must be delivered at the pickup point or at the customer's house.
This is just insane, this choice should be the customer's, not the vendor's or PostNL's.
All in all it seems that PostNL just want to cut delivery costs without taking responsibility.

It's even more frustrating, as we are now obliged to identify ourselves at the pickup point, whereas before we didn't need to as the package was delivered to the door.

Even though this is not DX's or other webshops fault, it reflects badly as PostNL refuse to take responsibility and lays the blame at the webshops, that didn't even get notified of any changes in PostNL and China Post policy.
