Want small rugged cellphone with long battery life

  • sheepish Top 10 Forum Poster Thursday, June 7, 2018 8:49 PM Reply

@ozOzo got any comments about the Poptel brand? sku.852526438 for example.

    Power

    Talk Time    1200 hours

    Standby Time    42 hours

That might possibly be around the wrong way.

    Battery Capacity    9000mAh

    LOL.

    Waterproof Level    IPX8

    Dust-proof Level    IP68

LOL again. I saw the details on a rugged camera this week which separated the ratings but (being a Japanese brand) got it right, IP6X and IPX8.

No mention of a barometer in this phone's specs.

That sounds about right. If you can keep the conversation going
for 7 weeks non-stop you won’t have to recharge until you hang up.
Only lasts a couple of days if you’re not using it though.

    Battery Capacity  9000mAh

Yep, it has a car battery in
    it… Needs it too,
just to scroll through all those languages when you’re setting it
up. It has more of ’em than Google translate! 200 at least…
including “Ewe”. I didn’t even know Ewe was a language but as
ewe are no doubt flewent in ewe, this is the phone for ewe!

Man, if it could translate to Ewe I'd buy it in a flash! And a backup. And an extra car battery to carry around just so I'd never run out of power at awkward moments.

It's not actually listed on that site. Why link to it, DX?

Edit: One of the graphics claims its dual satellite positioning system (GPS and GLONASS) makes it reliable for miners or building workers who need to work under the ground. LOL.

My new new cellphone arrived this morning. It's not small or light, but it is rugged - a Cat phone. It looks and feels huge compared to my old Sony Compact phone (the IP67 rated one with the screen coming off and the back mostly held on by faith and can be taken off completely).

On the back of the Sony yesterday I stuck a high-grip pad. It increases the non-slip grippiness of the phone incredibly.

    From page 2:

the Blackview BV6000, which DX says is 15.2 cm x 8.1 cm x 1.6 cm, 247 g. And it has a compass, but no fingerprint scanner.

My new cellphone is a very similar size and weight, but narrower and thinner - not a small, light weight phone like I said I wanted. It has a compass, but no fingerprint scanner. There will always be trade-offs.
