DX.COM adding 3% to credit card payments.

  • Clivelazenby Sunday, March 20, 2016 5:22 AM Reply

I have noticed that for some time now an additional 3% has been charged over the original payment amount shown by DX.com and the actualy overseas details on the credit card statement. This charge only happens when puchasing through DX.com & not other overseas suppliers. This does not appear as a bank charge as these are listed seperately as overseas transaction fees & currency exchange. I had enquired on live chat & once they established this doesn't appear to be a bank change was advised to create a ticket. I have  raised a first ticket but it doesn't appear on the ticket list. Then I raised a second ticket but after submitted it has also failed to appear in my ticket list. Hell is going on here please ? Any help or feefback appreciated.

Edited... Please read all the posts on this thread. This is not a simple misunderstanding. This is a real additional charge added by DX.COM via their "aquiring bank" and maybe effecting many customers using credit card method of payment over the last 18 months. Check your credit card statements & compare the DX.com payment on "my orders" list against the actual deduction shown on the credit card transaction.  These should be the same. If there is any difference please add your comments on this thread !

What exactly are "overseas transaction fees" and "currency exchange" if not bank fees?

Hi. Sorry If I am unclear but I state those charges you have I identified are bank charges. I am refering to the 3% difference between the money shown by DX verses the overseas details on the credit card statement BEFORE those additional bank charges are added. It's a 3% added extra charge on every DX purchase NOT applied by the bank but before the transaction reaches the bank. I hope that clarifies the issue.

Is there a currency conversion involved?

Yes. the currency conversion is added into the total cost of transaction in NZDs. The overseas

currency fee  is shown as a seperate cost added on in NZDs. In the latest transation the DX.com payment is shown as "3/15/2016  US$ 7.69 Payment Confirmed."  But on my credit card statement it shows as "Overseas Details 03/15/16 7.92    USD"  An increase of 3%.

Where is it gone & who is getting it. On this transation is is only 23c US but add that up over all ofr you own transations over a week or month or year & then if this is applied to every transation for all the members we are talking a very seriously large amount of money.

Sorry, I completely misunderstood what you were saying originally. Normally the conversion fees will be about 3% or so, a bit more than using Paypal to do the conversion and then charging your card in NZD.

Does DX charge any fees for credit card payments?

DX does not charge fees of any kind but some credit card companies
will charge a currency conversion fee.  Please consult your credit card
    provider for more information.

I think DX has some explaining to do.
