phone not fit for Europe

  • admiro12 Monday, May 15, 2017 4:41 AM Reply

    Dear Sirs,

Unfortunately the phone seems to be unfit for EU.

Several apps are Chinese, so are the help functions.

I cannot introduce my Dutch phonenumber or localisation.

A Dutch user manual is missing (the plug is American, but this is not an issue).

    What can I do?

Is it possible to adept the phone? Or should I sent it back?

It probably works OK, but in this way it is useless to me.

    Sincerely,

    Martin den Heijer

What appears to be an American plug is probably Chinese, where they use it with 230 V AC.

As I said, the plug is not the issue (your site mentions a US plug..., I can live with that, although one would expect that you sent a fitting plug if send to EU)), the working of the phone is... What should I do? Sent it back or is it possible to adjust the phone to EU?

My site mentions batteries and hobby stuff, not American plugs. But how do you know what my site is?

I suggest asking them a clearer and more specific question, like "Can I install an international version of the OS so I can get European languages?"

I'm sure @ozOzo will have some more sensible ideas.

Sorry but the only sensible advice I have is to check the suitability of a phone before buying and it's too late for that. This is a Chinese phone with a Chinese ROM and with very few 3G and 4G frequency bands that are suitable for countries outside China, India and possibly a few others. From what I have learned from @Ignatus, the Chinese ROM cannot be rooted and therefore the chances of adapting it to suit other bands are not good.

It does however have WCDMA (3G) bands B1 and B8 and FDD-LTE bands B1 and B3. KPN and T-Mobile (Netherlands) operate on those two 3G bands and Vodafone (N'lands) use B1. Also, KPN have a 4G network using B1 and T-Mobile use 4G bands B1 and B3.

admiro12, you need to check with your local service provider but hopefully one of the above can provide a SIM that will work for you. I wish you luck trying to unload the bloatware from the phone though. Perhaps Ignatus could help you there.

    thank you ozOzo.

The phone itself is working, I am a KPN client. But the apps turn up in Chinese, so are the warnings...

The feedback of other clients of the phone do not mention my problems.

On internet advises are given to try to alter the ROM and not to do so..

Maybe they don't use the apps which are only Chinese.
