Typical crap quality!

  • cyclist Moderator Tuesday, July 18, 2017 5:03 AM Reply

    Charger that is.

I got it today and was very happy with the drill and the power of it, but then I stupidly thought I would charge the batteries, what a mistake that was.

A few mins into the charge and bang, great.

Once again, a good item let down by the cheap manufacturer trying to save a tiny tiny bit of money.

It's easier to make a good Li-ion charger than it is to make good Li-ion batteries. Why do you blame the charger?

Was it just the charger that blew or did it stuff the drill?

Um, yes, as Oz asks, what went bang?

The charger went bang, the battery still works.

I now have two working batteries, with probably 50% in them I would guess, but no idea how long they would last in use.

It wouldn't really surprise me if DX will ask for the whole lots to be returned!

in the past DX did not ask me to return entire item just the faulty accessory, not sure if this policy has changed recently

Resistance is futile-give in to DX gadget craving!
also a voluntary mod-be nice please!

DX used to sell these non-balancing 3 cell chargers separately: sku.442715. Maybe @Maye-Tao will know when they have more in stock. I bought one a while back, but I haven't used it yet. Let's hope it doesn't blow up on me too.

If you have a multi-chemistry hobby charger like the IMAX B6, it will charge your batteries too. I've confirmed it will charge li-ion without a balancing cable in non-balancing charge mode.

What's up with the scrubbed LED driver IC markings?
What are they trying to hide?

In the product details in the pop-up window for that charger:

    Input Voltage

    50/60Hz, AC 100~240 DX.PCM.Model.AttributeModel.Unit

    Output Voltage    DC 12.6 DX.PCM.Model.AttributeModel.Unit

    Max. Output Current    1 DX.PCM.Model.AttributeModel.Unit

But is DX insterested in fixing that (several times) previously reported bug? No!
