Dificulities getting camera to work.

  • Dhendo Wednesday, September 13, 2017 8:39 PM Reply

I have found some problems with this camera, firstly the supplied remote has 15 buttons, but is configured as a 7 button, this is very confusing but once you realise it will work with care.

The camera does seem to work ok as far as sensing movement and taking photos, but I cannot get it to recognise the sim card, I bought this model for its 3g capability but am not able to use it.

I would appreciate if anyone has had experience with this camera and can help me with this problem.

    Thanks, Don.

I have no experience with the camera Don but just to eliminate the obvious, it is a 2G (GSM) SIM and network you are using?

Thanks for your interest ozOzo, yes the sim and the network are definately 3G, 2G has been phased out here in Australia, hence needing the 3G model.

This camera supposedly works with both 2G and 3G anyway.

The instructions are not really clear but it seems that the sd card and sim card should both be acnowledged on the screen as soon as they are installed, the sd appears but not the sim.

I'll try doing more setting up to see if that helps, or hopefully get advice from someone who already knows!

Hi Don, I'm Australian too. It seems crazy they should only mention the 2G bands in the specification... that's what made me think the 3G mention in the title may be wrong but elsewhere on the net, it is also advertised as 3G if indeed it is the same camera. The interpretation of the brand on DX is "Wolf Cat" and I see another site calls it the Sun HC500G

I found a tutorial on Youtube that you may find helpful. Search: "how to configure the sun hc500 camera for australia".
