Specifications (again)

  • norwegr Sunday, September 24, 2017 9:03 PM Reply

    The given specs are conflicting:

The physical size is specified different in the attached pictures and in the given specifications. Btw, there is a commonly used symbol for specifying a Diameter. To say that the size is 1 by 1 (inch or cm or whatever) is not the same as saying that the diameter is 1. The symol is a circle with a line through it, like the letter O with a slash through it. (An O + / ligature).  Like O and / on top of each other. Ø

The runtime is specified as 12-15 hr, while the images from the supplyer (?) says 1 to 60 hr, depending on light output.

It says "zoomable design" and "Focal lenght: adjustable" in the images. It would be good to see the word "zoom" in the product description. Otherwise, there is no way to know about this torch by searching for zoom torches.

I've added "zoom" to the tags, just below the discussions section.

But it's even worse than you said.

    Dimensions ... 5.43 cm x 1.54 cm x 5.43 cm

That's a wide flat cylinder, and not what the photos show.

The extra pics refer to IPX-6, which is a fake IP code because genuine codes do not use negative numbers. Mind you, zoom torches can suck water in when they're extended. A water resistance rating of -6 would suck a lot.

The extra pics also mention it's good for "Emerency" use.

    Emitter Brand    Cree

    LED Type    XM-L2

    Emitter BIN    T6

There are no photos of the LED to confirm that's the actual LED used. Buyer beware.

    Current    3A

    Theoretical Lumens    1000 lumens

    Actual Lumens    1000 lumens

The way that LED is rated, the theoretical lumen output at that current is 920 lm, and zoom torches are very lossy so well under that will make it out the front, so that's a very good indication that it has NOT been actually tested.

Conclusion: Many of the specs are just lies.
