Item missing in action

  • sheepish Top 10 Forum Poster Thursday, October 12, 2017 5:21 AM Reply

Back on 10 August I added a small gas stove to my Wish List, sku.916474919. On
11 October I added another small gas stove to my Wish List, sku.474919.
They are / were identical, and both are still in my Wish List, but the
916 version is now missing from the site and the non-916 one has gone up
    from $5.99 to $7.49.

What happened? Where did sku.916474919 go to?

Another problem: trying to post - "Server is busy, please try again later." Isn't that the error message when there's something the forum software doesn't like in the post? I'll try removing stuff from this post.

No, that didn't work. It seems that in the time it took to type this post the whole DX site vanished. I'm now trying again the next day.

    Edit - fixed typo.

Since yesterday I've been seeing some odd things like slow page loading and suddenly a page will stop scrolling for several seconds than start again, but haven't seen the server is busy message for quite some time now.

I just assumed that the IT guys were fixing something again.

In my case it might have been that I lost the Internet completely. (It was a good excuse to go to bed.) I'm testing that idea by disconnecting before I post... Yep, "Server is busy, please try again later." It's the non-descript. error message when the forum page cannot find DX. It should really say "No response from server, please check your Internet connection or try again later."

Any idea why sku.916474919 would be cheaper than sku.474919?

I'm not positive, but I think items starting with 916 were listed on USDirect. (DXSoul) I didn't bother much with it because there were a lot less items, and the search system was awful. The few times I did though, the prices seemed to be the same as those here.

Maybe there was a clearance sale before they closed the US site and they realised they'd lose money by continuing the sale price?

916+ products need to be shipped via different shipping methods with correct phone number.

I haven't had the "Server is busy" message but I can't open sku.916474919, just get a 404. I've seen that happen several times with identical items with different sku's and prices. I guess they can't buy batches of some items at the original price and it's easier to "lose" the old sku than to explain a price rise.

Doesn't happen with all items though... SKU: 458619 and SKU: 415367 are both still available.

Yeah, that is a strange one, and both are MVP.
