Hey, that's a well written overview

Pity the bullet marks didn't make it from the list. It comes from the overview for sku.3256, which I wrote for DX in December 2011 with input from other forum regulars.

Could it really be that we once again have a four-pack of AX2002 drivers?

Edit - NO! The description is incorrect. The driver was changed to use a voltage regulator chip as explained back in 2015 in that thread I linked. The description on sku.3256 was not updated three years ago when it happened, but the photos were updated. The photos shown for this product are of the same non-AX2002 driver.

BTW, the description is also on another site, and they did not correct it either after they sent me the wrong product, but they also updated their photos.

Hmm, pity there's not somewhere you could advise DX that the overview needs updating. I suppose you could contact customer service, who could probably help with YOUR problem!

Yeah, I do have a problem with it. Quite apart from every time I buy them I have to get my money back, it was ideal for 3S3P LED arrays running on a 12V battery and if I want something similar now I have to mod a more expensive driver.

Even when DX responded to Error Reports and had mostly reasonable suppliers (not suppliars who even flatly deny lying about their own products' specs) I couldn't get the details corrected on sku.3256 after the product devolved into the excrement they (and this) now are.

Maybe they really liked the sensible specs list that I came up with and wanted to keep them. Why would they want to admit they now use an inadequate voltage regulator chip instead of a well respected constant current LED driver chip? It's another example of Chinese suppliars changing the specs for the worse just to save a few cents.

You can bet there is no shortage of the "respected" item for the home market and no attempt to make the inferior product available anywhere but for export... a situation the West brought upon itself by outsourcing manufacture.

I don't follow you, sorry. Are there lots of Chinese LED enthusiasts and LED product manufacturers using AX2002 drivers?

Heh, I have no idea of the demand for or quality of AX2002 drivers. I was stating my political view on manufacturing in general, but I will stop now. ;)

I think it's more representative of the penny-pinching attitude of Chinese manufacturers. It might be only a few cents saved, but as long as the product still sort of does the same thing it's justifiable in their minds.
