WTF DX?

  • gasbag11 Top 10 Forum Poster Thursday, June 28, 2018 9:58 PM Reply

    General

    Model    0458

    Material    Glue

    Quantity    4 pieces

    Dimensions & Weight

    Dimensions    3.94 in x 3.54 in x 3.54 in (10 cm x 9 cm x 9 cm)

    Weight    18.55 oz (526 g)

    Packing List

    4 x Leak Repair Tapes

Do you really expect someone to pay $23 + for what may be only a few square inches of tape? Is it 4 pieces or 4 rolls? If it's 4 pieces with the dimensions shown above, than the price is ridiculous. If it's rolls, what is the length of tape on each roll?

If whoever posts the new arrivals doesn't know what they're doing, get someone who does, or expect to lose more and more sales because customers shouldn't have to ask for basic info like sizes, amounts etc.

Don't you just love when staff is so quick to acknowlege the problem and correct descriptions like this?

We have seen many examples of how the staff cannot just correct mistakes. They have to contact the suppliar, wait for them to reply, {contact the suppliar again pointing out their original question hasn't answered, wait for them to reply again,} before they might be able to correct the mistake. If the suppliar says it's fine as it is, DX cannot just change the obviously incorrect details because the product might be quite different to what the obvious correction is, meaning DX would be responsible have to cover the cost* of selling an incorrectly described product, instead of being able to pass the cost on to the suppliar for having provided incorrect details.

    * DX is always responsible for selling the items; the sale agreement is between DX and the customer, not the suppliar and the customer.

the weight of 526g seems rather specific, and too much for just one roll so it might point to 4 rolls, unless the tape is extremely thick, but my issue is the "material glue", since when is the primary component of adhesive tape glue? it should be plastic right?

Well, without the glue it's not adhesive, so it goes from 12 letters (and a space) to 4 letters, meaning you lose (at least) two thirds of it. That's the bulk of it just gone!

That's my point exactly. Who knows what, if anything, in the description is correct?

If I was a potential first time buyer from DX, and saw descriptions as bad as so many have been here lately, I guarantee I'd be LMAO as I closed the tab and looked somewhere else.

edit - Btw, a single roll of duct tape weighs about the same as the weight listed here.

gb, although duct tape, the original anyway, is the thick cloth backed tape, this tape looks shiny and possibly thinner, can't say for sure with these photos

sheepish, so if DX used 'mucilage' instead of glue are you saying the adhesive layer is twice as thick? if only it were that simple!

if DX used 'mucilage' instead of glue

That seems a false dichotomy. Mucilage is used as glue in some situations. Probably not on vinyl tape, though, so yes, adhesive mucilage would be a thicker solution to a sticky problem. (I'd put in a thick-looking "Bubble" icon here but they don't show in the selecter. Another DX change?)
