  • MT2oo Tuesday, July 21, 2009 10:42 AM Reply
Is it possible to use 2 cr123a batteries? Because I don't have any 18650 yet and i want to test it.. i got a lot of good quality cr123a batteries.

I've read a post here the driver can't handle it and another post that it works well..

If you want to kill it, then go for it!

Someone did it after looking at the specs on the manufacturers site which said it would handle 2x123a, seemingly forgetting they got it of DX and they state it can only use 18650.

Dont expect to get a replacement if you knacker it

Haha, thanks cyclist for the heads up on that. I came here looking to ask the same thing!

Going camping this week... charger (sku.1251) broke on me after charging only 6 batteries (Trustfire Grey) so I ordered another charger about 2 weeks ago, which has yet to arrive. I guess I wont have a torch for camp... Pretty sad considering its such an awsome torch and the fact that I have 6 flat batteries with no way of charging them or buying replacement batteries on short notice!

Any suggestions besides having to rough it up at camp, blind?

I assume, your camp-weekend is over. Nevertheless: Get a dead CR123 (make sure it´s really dead!), wrap it into aluminium foil, wrap the body into several layers of paper (but not the contacts).
This is your extension for using a single CR123 in a 18650 tube.

Kleinalrik thanks for the reply! Yeah my trip ended a while ago. Camping in deep bush without a bright torch really sucks haha. Thanks for the info! It will come in handy some day. hopefully not tho, I bought 6 more spare batteries and a backup charger haha.. Cheers =)

I was so dumb and use 2 cr123 batts, fortunately for me ,I don´t killed the led ,but the problem was that fried the tailcap switch, actually the spring in the tailcap,in my case,it worked as a fuse and got too hot and finally got twisted and broke, luckily I found a similar spring ,cause I could not find a replacement tailcap for these flashlight, now is working fine but I only use one 18650 batt.
BTW the short time I used the 2 cr123 ,it was very very bright
