Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil

  • hkongas Sunday, October 4, 2009 5:48 PM Reply
How about some Auto Lead Rotation Mechanical Pencil with 0.5 mm Lead?

I just came across with these selling with at $6.75, but the shipping is pain in the ass. They have some rotation mechanism keeping the lead more "sharp". I'm sure DX might find a way to get, sell and ship them with even lower price too ;)

"The Kuru Toga, on the other hand, has a core rotation mechanism that continually rotates the pencil lead as you write. The lead is twisted through a spring-loaded clutch, it works by twisting incrementally every time you lift the pencil up (i.e. during printing words, etc). This allows a uniform wearing of the pencil lead so that it always remains as a pointed tip. Not only does it solve the above problems, but it also gives you an amazingly thin line. You are effectively using only 50% of the lead area that you were previously using with your old mechanical pencil. Thus, a 0.3 mm Kuru Toga will write incredibly thin lines and have less breakage than a standard 0.3 mm mechanical pencil."

    And couple pictures to demonstrate:
(wee, not even linking to original page, so clever)

I would buy the japanese original, but i would probably not buy a chinese copy considering the quality problems of most copies...

Interestingly, the best chinese copy of any category seems to be the "tenca" eggs :D

$1 for shipping worldwide? I can't find it... if so, link me one of them, please.
At the most popular site that I found, for example, it can be found at $5.36 and WorldWide Shipping Eligible but the estimated cost with fees is $26.03 to ship to my country.
