Why do I even bother ?

  • warchicken Tuesday, February 9, 2010 10:44 AM Reply
I ordered a screen protector for my new ipod touch. I one that was in stock so I could have it quick to prevent my screen from scratches.

It went from awaiting stock to packaging to something else and then to temporarily stock shortage.

WTF is the sense in all this ???

I needed this fast, my screen has more scratches each day.

I'm just going to leave this store and find another, ok the forum is great but I'm primarily here for the shopping, which failed for me for the last time.

I'm very patient, and I understand when a customer needs to be patient.

But this is not the first time. The way DX is serving it's customers is just wrong lately.

Yet another whiner thread. The central fail in your whine is "I needed this fast, my screen has more scratches each day.". Really, don't shop at DX.
Sadly there is no sku for common sense here at DX.

If you're that eager to protect your screen. You have two options:

    1. Stop playing with it until you get the protector

    2. Common Sense (Logically) - Pay a premium to get ASAP at your local or big box electronic store.

The screen of the iPod Touch is glass. That means it's incredibly resistant to scratches, unless you wear diamond-studded gloves while using the thing. Try wiping it down. fingernail scratches on finger grease gives the appearance of deep scratches.
Really, the only part you need worry about is the (very scratch-able) chrome back. Why they haven't just gone with brushed aluminum is beyond me...

You can use a ceramic knife as stylus. It *will* scratch glass.

Other than the fact that it won't respond to ceramic. Really, It won't respond to anything but my finger. I know there are styluses out there that work with the iPod Touch, I just haven't figured out what material to use.

If you really need a protector, get a invisibleSHIELD. Sure, it's a incredibly overpriced piece of plastic that probably costs a buck to make. But for what it's worth, you'll only need to replace it once during the life of your device. And they'll send you a replacement shield for free when that comes up. (But you've already paid a premium of $25 and up)
