International POS Fee

  • daveservo Sunday, February 28, 2010 7:29 PM Reply
Watch out for PNC bank! They charge a 2.5% "International POS Fee" for purchases made outside the USA using their bank debt/credit cards. Just recently, my bank was bought out by PNC, and this is the first time I had ever heard of/been charged an International POS Fee.

Add funds to your paypal account, then pay with that?

Almost all banks to this. It's not exactly news to people who read about the fees on their cards and accounts.

Paypal is even worse on this respect. If you're changing currencies they will slug you with 2-3% or more hidden in the currency conversion, compared to market rates.

I'd go with the credit card since they generally have the best protection.
Sadly there is no sku for common sense here at DX.
