Driver USB OTG for android tablet - Window vista

  • antoniolazaro Thursday, September 30, 2010 10:16 AM Reply

"No Driver USB OTG (Detect like HiDROID but no CD/Driver to download/Install)"
Please, anybody have a driver or website of vendor?

You have to go to the notifications area and enable USB mass storage after connecting. No other than the mass storage native drivers should be necessary. By default Android devices enable Serial profile over USB; users must manually enable USB storage. For accessing as such (COM) - debugging, programming, etc. - the driver contained in Android SDK is needed but this is for very advanced users only. You probably want to copy files to/from your tablet only.

Read the message from Vladlenin above. You have to "take down" the notification area and enable "storage device".

    Okay Gents.

Disclaimer: I am an android newbie but I am advanced in using windows. If you follow these directions, you do so at your own risk. Do not blame me if you brick your device, lose critical data, or your wife leaves you -- I am giving you information, if you break it, it is your fault.

    Having said that: Lookie --
    # uname -a
    uname -a
    Linux localhost 2.6.29-zenyu #1102 Mon Aug 30 13:54:56 CST 2010 armv6l unknown

    ols>adb shell
    # ls

adb logcat works too here are the last few lines from mine:

So, here is how I got the HiDroid driver working.

Download the android sdk and install it all
go to the usb_driver directory in the sdk
edit the android_winusb.inf file and add the following into the [Google.NTx86] section

    ; 7"Android tablet
    %CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_0002&MI_01

Then open the system panel, right-click on the HiDroid driver and install the modified inf.

If you dont know how to do this or what it does, I would highly recommend you not do this. If you are an android expert feel free to contact me. :D

    Hey there gpbrillo,

    no spaces in part USB\VID_18D1&PID.....

If it still doesnt work, open the device manager and get the device ID out of your HiDroid driver (doubleclick on it and go to details). Put your line in there instead. If you have a different line, then you also have a different tablet.

Thanks Tenzen2j. Now is like a cannon. It was a small error in the configuration file. I managed to connect, I recognize it and make a small application (apk) and run on the tablet. Thank you very much for everything. I had done but had to put the application and then make it run.

    Confirm that this works:
"Read the message from Vladlenin above. You have to "take down" the notification area and enable "storage device". "
    ->It shows SDcard directory.

Just installed Android SDK, have you found it usefull?
Will chech it later when more time.
If get inner add-on GPS-module that skd would be usefull.

Well, let's see what fun we can get :)
