I wish there was a FTDI one on DX, I think they are all Prolific on here (When i did a search a while back). Different chips have different compatibility. FTDI are great in DOS.. Well they used to be..

prolific has caused me several bluescreens on disconnection, since you have to use really old drivers with the cheap cables, the new ones from prolific just say code 10 when they try to start.

If DX did an FTDI cable I'd buy 100. The drivers are much better than Prolific. We use FTDI ones to extend the life of our RS232 devices (few laptops have RS232 these days). They can be left logging data over the FTDI adapter for days on end, without any errors.

I don't know if you are in the market for a laptop, but the Probook 6555b laptops does have Serial interface, as most laptops ment for company use..
    Check them out!.
Always a pleasure to assist you :)
