Spider Fire p7 is not working on high, but on low.

Hi, am posting the topic here to get more views to see if someone can help me out.
    http://www.dealextreme.com/forums/Forums.dx/Forum.19767~threadid.778591

My flashlight ( sku.19767 ) will run on sku.26247 and sku.20392 , on high, but only if the batteries are 4.0v or lower.

Anthing above 4.0v high will not work, only low.

The high will only work for abou half a sec, then shut off.

I would appreciate any help before I have to RMA the light, I would hate to have to wait 2 months, to get a working light again.

    Thank you!

Sounds like the problem is with your batterys.
Do you have any non-protected batterys you can try?

No I don't have any non protected. :(

Why would the batteries shut it off?

The batteries all work in my other 18650 light.

What happens when you remove the tailcap and short the negative to the body?

"What happens when you remove the tailcap and short the negative to the body?"

    The same thing.

It will click on for about half a sec, then off.

To Cyclist, I used some half year old trustfires, @ 2400MAH 3.7v batteries, charged to 4.2V, they WORKED!

So my new batteries are bad?

Should I RMA the new batteries, since they short this light?

    Thanks.

    please get back to me.

No, your new batterys work, but your P7 seems to drawing more current than the batterys protection circuit will allow, thats why they wont work on high.

Your choices are, get new non-protected batterys or remove the protection circuit from the batterys you have, ive done that several times.

All you have to do is remove the protection circuit.

Cut around the bottom and rip it out with pliers or a similar tool.
There is a wire going up the side, so make sure you remove all of it.

Then just use some tape to stick the cover back on.

Thanks Dark, but can't the batteries over charge if I do remove it?

Not if you have got a charger, which cuts off correctly like for example this one sku.13820
