Viera Link / Bravia Theatre compatibility

  • kraljevo Friday, December 24, 2010 11:27 AM Reply
The unit I got didn't play very well with my Home Theater system (a Sony) nor my television set (a Panasonic). I had to plug the media player directly to the television, bypassing the home theater; so I couldn't have 5.1 audio and such. A bummer, really.

However, there is a solution. Just tape the pin 13 on the HDMI cable. This is because it does not implement correctly the CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) protocol, used by my TV to control the home theater and say the home theater may process the audio. The pinout can be easily found on the internet.

This is working perfectly for some time now, so much I'm inclined to modify the media player itself so it works with any HDMI cable.

Here's a forum post with a similar problem, solved in a similar way: http://www.avforums.com/forums/6250784-post18.html
