In Windows 7 (64 bit) it's just Plug'n'Play. Plug it in and it works. The sound quality is excellent. However...
A novice user may not understand how to use it. The instructions are in English but don't provide enough detail. The device acts as an additional sound card. You have to be aware of what this means and know how to configure it to be the default sound device in your computer. This doesn't happen automatically.
Ubuntu Linux recognizes the device, but in a way slightly more complicated than that used in Windows, you have to set it to be the default sound device. When you unplug it in Windows, the system automatically reverts to its previous default sound device, which is good.
