Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:

Good stereo sound. Full frequency range. Plays from line-in, SD and USB flash drives. Full function remote controller. Six EQ presets and volume adjustment. Two line LCD display of artists and song titles.

    Cons:

Lack of shuffle play or any random play mode. The remote controller is not very responsive.

    OtherThoughts:

This device features a full frequency range from 87.5 MHz to 108.0 MHz in 0.1 MHz step. It plays from line-in using the supplied 2.5mm-3.5mm audio cable, SD cards in the SD slot or through an USB card reader, and USB flash drives. It accepts SD and USB flash drives up to at least 2GB (I didn’t have any 4GB flash drive or SDHC on hand to test). When all three audio sources are plugged in simultaneously, line-in takes priority, followed by the SD and then the USB flash drive.

The monochrome LCD display features two lines. When using SD or USB flash drives, the upper line shows the logos for SD or USB, FM transmission, track time counting up, and the channel number. The bottom line shows the artists and the song titles in English. I played a Chinese song track and sorry, it would not display any Chinese character. When using line-in, the bottom line shows only Line-in. The blue backlight is turned on constantly when the power is on.

The remote controller features an EQ key rotating amongst NORMAL, DBB, DISC, POP, JAZZ, CLASS, and a Volume key alternating from 0 to 21. Pressing the key "Pick Song" and “1,” “1,” “2,” the device plays track #112. Same function applies to the channels. Pressing “Ch Set” and “8,” “8,” “7,” the channel switches to 88.7 MHz. The remote is not very responsive. Its range is only about one foot and it must be pointing direct at the LCD to work.

The song quality is very good, clear and in stereo. The device does not appear to have shuffle mode or any other random play mode. When powering off and on, the device remembers the track number and the channel, and plays from the beginning of the track.

    Bottomline:

This is a splendid player with good sound and a remote controller for easy selection of songs and channels.
