Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:

You need to download the Bootloader from the webpage http://www.obdev.at/products/vusb/bootloadhid.html in order to program any compiled HEX file into the microcontroller.
    Much easier you can't work.
If you want to rewrite the program, press the RST and F1 and hold the F1 a little longer. Led D1 will start flashing. Press Find device on the HIDBootflash, select the HEX file and download the file into the microcontroler (don't use the Reboot AVT option).
Press the reset button now and off you go

    Cons:

    No cons

    OtherThoughts:

in order to extend the I/O, a breadboard could do miracles.
If you google to m16_demo.pdf, you'll find the diagram.

    Bottomline:

Perfect device for the small controler applications. Can be extended to real massive interfaces to RS232 (with level adaptation), Smartmedia interface, LCD interface,...
Something that you need to have in your drawer for the small Saturday evening projects.
Buy one, buy two, ... they are worth every penny.
