Very good contrast.
Compatible with the Arduino LiquidCrystal Library.
Provides a reset button to replace the one it hides.
Prevents easy access to the pins it does not use.
(The breakouts aren't solderless.)
A previous reviewer mentioned the pin mapping he used to get the device running with the Arduino LiquidCrystal Library. The mapping of the device I received is different yet.
I used the following:
LiquidCrystal lcd(8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 7);
When I received the device, I was worried that it was broken because it did not display anything even after mapping out the pins with an ohmmeter. It turned out that the contrast control trimpot was wound really far the wrong way. Twisting the trimpot clockwise for about 30 seconds fixed it up.
Great deal if you need to display anything in real time or away from a computer!
