Works great. It is simple to find appropriate code examples for this LCD shield - just load HelloWorld example: 1) In Arduino IDE - File->Examples->LiquidCrystal->HelloWorld: 2) Change the constructor LiquidCrystal lcd(8,9,4,5,6,7).
1) The resistor (referred to as "blue box") which is used to adjust the brightness is a too high to fit into case. 2) There are no pins available to connect sensors to this shield. You have to solder in order to connect something, otherwise you are stuck with helloworld 3) Buttons (tact switches) are too low, the higher tact switches used in DFRobot version are more suitable
1) Original resistor setup was on zero brightness - so 1st thought was that the device is dead. Turning small screw clockwise made "hello world" text appear on the screen.
Read the reviews before use. Load sketch, change to "LiquidCrystal lcd(8,9,4,5,6,7)"? upload and run sketch and do not forget to adjust brightness first if you don't see the text. See http://www.dfrobot.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=51 for more info
