This is a very nice little L298 carrier board. It has (very bright) red status LEDs for the 4 inputs, as well as jumper-enable-able pull-up resistors on the inputs.
The 78M05 onboard regulator overheats when you have high PWM frequencies, and supply voltages over ~20V. This can lead to very confusing intermittent failures. Fortunately, there is also a jumper to disconnect the onboard regulator, and you can supply an external 5V.
Information on this board is available here: http://www.geekonfire.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dual_H-Bridge_Motor_Driver
You can also use each half of each h-bridge separately. I actually used one of these to build a brushless motor driver, using 1 1/2 of the H-bridges.
It's a very nice board for experimenting with an L298, or for use as a small motor controller.
