Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:

Ridiculously cheap compared to what you'd have to pay for the individual components + PCB to hold it.

    Cons:

The output voltage fluctuates depending on the load, so it's not for applications where a stable voltage source is mission critical.
Also lacking extra protection on the input and output lines.
Polyfuses aren't THAT expensive, and they also don't take up much space, so I just don't understand why they're on included on the board from the factory.

    OtherThoughts:

    Nothing really.

    Bottomline:

As long as you don't need a really damn stable power source it does the job for cheap.
Usable as a breadboard power supply, but just keep an eye on the voltage level with a multimeter
