1)Cheap; 2)Easy to disassemble; 3)On board LED driver are switching mode constant current; 4)Zoom focus - VERY VERY useful!
1)Flashlight body too big for 16340 - there are plastic tube used to fix the battery in the middle. It seems this body are basic design for 3xAAA then modified for 1x16340 Li-Ion; 2)LED driver becomes VERY hot when operation, especially the onboard inductor; 3)Poor line regulation and high dependency from temperature.
Onboard LED driver has only one mode of operation. It draws from fully charged 16340 (4.1-4.2 V) about 1.2 Amps. From nominal 3.7 V charged Li-Ion it draws 1.1 A. Input current drops rapidly - poor thermal regulation and, in this case, low efficiency. I will use it with replacement STAR-PCB with Cree R5 XP-G LED on board (000H51 bin). In this case i expect twice luminous flux output.
In retail configuration this flashlight are poor. Buy it if you know how to upgrade it with more efficient driver and LED.
