  • Cheap, functional logic analyser.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:

    Very nice for the price.
If you're willing to put some effort into it, you can reflash the built-in EEPROM, so it identifies as a Saleae logic Logic analyser instead.

    Cons:

The USBee software is kind of crap. CWAV (the company that makes the USBee was one of the first on the market, and apparently they haven't figured out that whole "Update your software thing". The application looks and feels like it belongs on Windows 2000.

    OtherThoughts:

Reflashing it so it enumerates as a Saleae logic is easy, if a bit involved. There was a hack-a-day article about it, if you want to google about a bit.

If you're a linux nerd, it should work with Sigrok with no changes, so that's another option.

    Bottomline:

So cheap it's a no-brainer. Useable as-is, and with a little effort, you can make it eaven nicer.
