  • Decent Clampmeter with an odd quirk

    posted by fieldcar on 07/05/2010

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

Its a basic clampmeter that competes well with similar yet higher priced products.

The default mode is DC, when AC is the default on all FLUKE clampmeters. Kinda annoying to switch to ampacity, then press select every time. Also, it would be nice to have a backlight, but at this cost, I dont care too much.

THIS IS AN RMS METER DESPITE WHAT OTHER REVIEWERS SAY! Measure the voltage at a duplex outlet in your home. Residential power in the USA should read between 115-120Vac which is what this meter reads. 120VacRMS is 170Vac peak-to-peak. Typically these cheaper digital meters lack TrueRMS. Google it.

It works out well for my field use just as a simple Voltmeter and clamp Ammeter, So I'm happy.
