    Pretty useful, simple I2C communication. Datasheet and other information about HMC5883L is abundant when you search for it. Works nicely with an Atmega 328/32u4 (Arduino uno R3 and Leonardo) If you really want to understand how to use the math for the degrees, it could take some time to understand the insides of the library (this could be found online)...     Very small form factor. I2C interface so it doe not consume too many IO pins. The HMC5883 magnetometer is a pretty standard part in the microcontroller/robotic community. Libraries exist for arduino and netduino math is required to use this magnetometer as a compass. Calculating headings requires some complex higher order math functions that may not ... Read more
