  • *It will display in Fahrenheit* Easy Fix

    posted by TrailChaser on 02/02/2009

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

It has a simple big clear display. It shows accurate temp.

    I love it's small size.

It doesn't come with a switch for Fahrenheit.

The cord for the probe is too short.

If you are used to reading temps in Fahrenheit there is a simple fix to change the display.

Take a small flathead(slotted) screwdriver and gently pry open the case. There are no screws.

Now take out the circuit board and look on the bottom.

You'll see a row of switches on the lefthand side labeled sw1 thru sw8.

You need to connect the two copper plates for the switch in the middle labeled sw5.

You can simply solder on a tiny wire to connect the two plates, or you can do like I did and just use the solder itself to connect them since they are really close.

Even tho it is a slight pain in the A$$ to switch the temp settings, I would still buy it. The simple mod took me about a minute to finish and shouldn't take the average person with a soldering iron much longer.
