Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:

Holds my lightweight DSLR (40D), with a real lens on it (30 year old metal and glass 105mm f2 prime with metal hood). It's not going to balance well with a long telephoto, but it's been great for me.
Offers great versatility when you pair it with an IR remote.

    Cons:

People not familiar with this type of tripod may be startled by it. I have a neighbor who thought it was a sex toy.
In other words, not a subtle item.

    OtherThoughts:

Mine has held up for more than a year! I usually end up jamming it in the corner or the top of my camera bag.

    Bottomline:

If you've been eying the name-brand version, grab this one. It's a low-risk way to expand your photography. It's also worth it to get the one rated for a higher load you get more options.
