    Bright light.

    Proper HA coating, will not scratch.

    Build quality (except pill) is 4-5.

    Battery insertion instructions inside tube.


    Unmodified light brightness drops after 1 minute.

    Not proper heatsinking of LED.

    Brass pill body instead of aluminium.

    No regulated circuitry. Direct + resistor.

    Glass not coated?

    Low efficiency compared to single CREE XR-E.


    Removed pill easily from body. Removed LED and found no thermal contact with pill. Heatsink paste was not squeezed flat due to LED mounting screws not fitting in the holes. Fitted LED again with two new M2 screws after tapping treads for them. Assembled pill again with some heatsink paste aplied to the body threads.

    Glass looked like non-coated glass, I replaced mine with a coated 35mm glass.

    Modified light was +50° after about 15 minutes. (Tried to upload thermal image).

    Direct drive is probably most efficient, current was about 2A. The low mode with 6.8ohm resistor was less than 0.2A.


    Cheap DIY flashlight.

    Great body, but LED/pill require modification to ensure full brightness and to avoid damaging the LED.

    It is brighter than my WF-400, but uses much more power.
