Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:

    Cheap

It does exactly what it says on the box, it allows you to connect a SATA drive to your computer via a USB port.

When dealing with 2.5" laptop drives no external power source is is required. Just plug in the USB cable and it works without the power brick.

Plug'n'Play. Automatically detected and installed on Windows Vista & XP

Speed tests done with a SSD drive rated to 155/90MB/s read write shows that this adapter has a maximum transfer rate of 32.5MB/s read and 30.5MB/s write.

    Cons:

Power cable useless in Northern Europe. it has one long round ground pin and two flat pins.

In my opinion the included power supply is potentially dangerous. With the power supply flat on a open surface it becomes burning hot and could be a fire hazard if left unchecked.

    OtherThoughts:

USE SUPPLIED POWER BRICK WITH EXTREME CAUTION!

I tossed the supply I got and use a PSU from a computer instead.

    Bottomline:

Does exactly what it is supposed to do quickly. Don't leave the power brick unattended.
