  • A budget torch with a premium output!

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

Bright, tightly focused central beamspot with enough spill to cover a much larger area too. Works brilliantly with both 2x 3.7V CR123's or a 18650- I noticed no difference in brightness between the two. The build quality is the same for other 502B models, but the pill on this one fits the reflector better than it does on the P7 variant. The torch is easy to use, well machined and worked fine out of the box.

Same issue with all the 502Bs: The pill/reflector don't fill the lamp head, so there's a lot of air between them and the body which is bad for heat conduction. Put on a bit of thermal grease if you think it's a problem.

The CR123's are narrower in body than an 18650, and if you use protected ones this allows them to "buckle" a little inside the body so that the contact between them isn't as good. An easy fix is to wrap a dollar bill or some paper around them before putting them into the body- $1 USD is exactly the right height/thickness to steady them :)

The beamspot is almost tight enough to consider this torch a thrower- much narrower than the P7 variant. It makes for a great medium-distance torch.

Well worth the money, I hope to get years of use from this torch!
