With the XM-L T6 Emitter the brightness is very good. The battery lasts a few hours on full power which is quite good for the amount of amps needed to bring this output. The focusring is the other thing i wanted as a feature and it works great and sits tight, secured with a sealing ring.
I don't like this multimode-stuff. The built-in PCB switches to the next mode every time you switch on the light. Because of that you have a 33% chance to switch it on in strobe-mode which is really annoying. I found out that you can disable all modes by connecting two pins of the correct IC together - See attached image. I don't know if this works with other lamps too, but i would give it a try if your lamp has the CX2829 LED-Driver on the PCB
As the 18566-cells are not avialable to buy in europe i open old laptop batteries to harvest them. A laptop battery normally contains 6 of these cells and even if your laptop won't accept the battery, most of the cells are intact. Just be sure to charge them properly.
I really recommend this product and if you don't like the modes and know how to use a soldering iron, than you should take this item into consideration.
